There’s a land where the mountains are nameless,
And the rivers all run God knows where;
There are lives that are erring and aimless,
And deaths that just hang by a hair;
There are hardships that nobody reckons;
There are valleys unpeopled and still;
There’s a land—oh, it beckons and beckons,
And I want to go back—and I will.
Robert Service, Spell of the Yukon

I arrived in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory with a dream. I needed a new horizon, a goal, an adventure- anything to get me out of the depression I had been wallowing in for nearly a year. In the winter of 1999, I had the idea of canoeing the full length of the Yukon River, even acquired all the maps to do such a venture. But another expedition had presented itself and I chose to put the Yukon on a backburner. Fast forward to June 11th 2015- I was standing on the bank of the Upper Yukon River, ready to turn that old dream into a new reality.
The following posts will be short excerpts from my journal and is aimed at those who have interest in completing a Yukon trip for themselves. If you have any questions please comment and I will try to answer in a timely matter. Thanks.
